Team dynamic: 2 Housing Liaison support the Behavioral Health Team
Office Location: 3309 South Kingshighway (South City) - Central Facility
Ideal Skill Set: Ability and desire to outreach individuals experiencing homelessness in the community. Ability to organize and plan day to day tasks, ability to formulate relationships with landlords in the community, attend Housing Liaision meetings weekly, complete intakes as they arise.
Example of a typical Day: Meet with individuals in the community to complete intakes, provide resources for homeless individuals seeking housing, attend team huddle meeting at 8:15am. (working with clients the community is required)

Overview
BJC Behavioral Health is a community health center that provides and coordinates behavioral health services for more than 8,000 seriously mentally ill adults and seriously emotionally disturbed children in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. François, Iron and Washington counties. As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), BJC Behavioral Health serves as a major point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by DMH and is responsible for serving as gatekeeper to the public mental health system.

Role Purpose
The Housing Liaison supports the housing outreach programs & services at BJC?s Independence Center. This position utilizes its expertise and its access to resources towards helping clients secure & maintain housing stability. This position also networks & engages with various members of the housing community and serves as a member of the Department of Mental Health?s (DMH) network of housing liaisons.
Responsibilities
Provides effective outreach to individuals experiencing a housing crisis; assists with the coordination of continuous engagement in services to maintain housing stability; practices Housing First, harm reduction and other evidence-based service delivery models.
Recruits and builds relationships with potential landlords; create a community of landlords/property managers interested in helping house consumers.
Represents BJC in regional and state housing networks; attends local continuum of care meetings and Missouri Behavioral Health Council/Department of Mental Health Housing meetings.
Obtains and maintains Supplemental Security Income/Social Security Disability Insurance (SSI/SSDI) Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) certification and assists clients through the SOAR process.
Processes housing referrals and assists with securing safe housing for clients.
