In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. Exceptions are permitted for those employees who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.
*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.
Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster five months after receiving the second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two months after the J&J vaccine.
Job Description
As a Manager of the Rockefeller Research Labs Animal Facility, you will lead all aspects of the administrative and operational activities. This includes ensuring efficient and effective operations, adherence to regulations and policies, and quality care for animals.

We are looking for someone who can:
- Leads all aspects of the functions and activities of employees in the RRL, Animal Facility.
- Participates in hiring, orienting, providing ongoing feedback, disciplinary action and termination.
- Coordinates annual staff performance appraisals; approves vacation requests and assesses overtime needs and acquires approval from managers.
- Develops and implements quality control programs related to animal care to ensure accurate practices are maintained.
- Interacts regularly with vendors to ensure adequate preventive maintenance and repair service is provided on a timely basis, is of sufficient scope and quality, and pursues service improvement as needed.
- Participates in the development and implementation of written protocols (SOPs) for animal care, sanitation, and environmental monitoring.
- Coordinates the reporting of animal health problems from the animal care staff to appropriate paraprofessional and professional staff.
- Maintains and improves professional growth and assists with quality improvement initiatives through participation in various management projects.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in the capacity of a lead or supervisor in an animal care program.
- Associate's degree in a related field preferred
- Certification by AALAS as a Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) required.
- Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) and Certified Manager of Animal Resources (CMAR) certification preferred. If not LATG certified, must attain certification within 2 years of employment
- Excellent communication skills
Work assignments may include weekends and holidays, and requires occasional after hour contact.
