Incentives: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The Chief of Staff leads the clinical operations of approximately 1,200 employee Medical Center (complexity Level 1C), to include four Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in West Virginia. The Chief of Staff develops and maintains currently accepted management practices throughout the clinical services. The COS develops and presents budgetary requirements of the clinical services and assists in the formulation of the annual budget program. The Chief of Staff is fully responsible to the Medical Center Director for programs of patient care and for the educational and research activities of the clinical services. To carry out these responsibilities, the candidate demonstrates the ability to: Formulate and recommend plans for a comprehensive program of medical care, Develop the requirements of staff, facilities, equipment and supplies needed to carry forward such an Integrated program, utilizing necessary reviews and controls, and Appraises the effectiveness of the medical programs in meeting the needs of patience. Additional details: Promotes the development of health care professionals through counseling, mentoring, teaching, and encouraging self-assessment. Fosters an environment where patient care, educational activity, and administrative planning and evaluation are based on the teamwork, integration and application of current knowledge. Establishes mechanisms where employees and VA leadership are informed; in a timely manner, of clinical program developments that affect the team. Takes an active role as an Executive Leadership team member, providing advice, counsel and personal action in defining and accomplishing the Medical Center's mission and goals. Represents the organization, internally and externally, in such a manner as to reflect positively on the Medical Center and the VA. Serves as the Medical Center's professional liaison to other VA and federal facilities, the community, affiliates, media, Congressional offices, and constituent organizations. Maintains and promotes high ethical and clinical standards that are carried into decision-making processes. Promotes constructive problem resolution in an environment of competing priorities.
