The Senior Social Worker (Substance Abuse) works for the Charleston VA Medical Center's outpatient clinic in Savannah, Georgia. The Social Worker is part of Mental Health Service, and is assigned to the Substance Treatment and Recovery (STAR) program. The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct clinical care to Veterans experiencing substance abuse. The Senior Social Worker performs specialized treatment of Veterans with complex mental health issues. Major duties include: Performs case finding functions and outreach Provides counseling or psychotherapy for individuals, families and groups Conducts psychosocial assessments Develops treatment plans in collaboration with Veteran/family and interdisciplinary treatment team Coordinates community-based services Identifies high-risk patients and provides appropriate, comprehensive services Facilitates referrals based upon Veteran need and eligibility Provides education for Veterans and their families Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm PCS Expenses: Not available.
