Northern Arizona VA Health Care System is looking for a Nursing Assistant (NA) to join the Geriatrics & Extended Care team! The NA is learning to perform basic nursing duties under close supervision in a variety of health care settings such as outpatient, inpatient, home or community living care, acute, and sub-acute. The NA will care for patients/residents with acute to chronic conditions. *****Failing to submit any documentation that is required and listed under the "Required Documents" tab may result in loss of consideration.***** The duties of the position include but are not limited to: Utilizing glucose monitoring machine to collect and document appropriate glucose readings for assigned Veteran Maintaining a positive therapeutic relationship by displaying respect for human dignity with patient, families and/or significant others utilizing learned communication skills Utilizing observation skills for data collection, reporting and recording patient/resident observations Performing aspects of nursing care to meet patient's needs for personal hygiene; physical comfort; activity, exercise, rest; nutrition; elimination; prevention of skin breakdown; rehabilitative aspects of care Engaging in group activities such as off-station trips, reality orientation, current events and other therapeutic groups Utilizing principles of proper body mechanics while caring for patients Reporting patient observations to the RN and/or other members of the treatment team Setting up patient care related equipment Organizing and obtaining routine supplies and equipment Assisting with orienting patient/family to unit routines and policies Work Schedule: Work Schedule: Compressed tours, varied days Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Recruitment/Relocation Incentives: NOT authorized
